MICA 2008 commencement exhibition

From Friday, May 16–Monday, May 19, the annual campus-wide 2008 Commencement Exhibition at Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) highlights works by more than 400 emerging artists in the undergraduate and graduate classes. This major exhibition allows every graduating student the chance to show a substantial body of work by transforming the College’s permanent galleries, hallways, classrooms, and open spaces into one expansive gallery space. Experimental Animation screenings take place on Friday, May 16 followed by Senior Video screenings on Saturday, May 17. Both take place at 7 p.m. in Brown Center’s Falvey Hall at 1301 Mount Royal Avenue. The Commencement Exhibition reception will be held campus-wide on Sunday, May 18 from 1:30 to 5 p.m. Shuttle service is available to guests during the reception. Special gallery hours for the Commencement Exhibition are Friday, May 16 from 11 a.m.–8 p.m., and Saturday, May 17 through Monday, May 19 from 11 a.m.–5 p.m. All exhibitions and receptions at MICA are free and open to the public.

The Commencement Exhibition features work by every graduating student in all of the undergraduate programs at the College. This includes students receiving bachelor of fine arts (B.F.A.) degrees in art history, ceramics, drawing, environmental design, experimental animation, fiber, general fine arts, graphic design, illustration, interactive media, interdisciplinary sculpture, painting, photography, printmaking, and video, as well as candidates for the post-baccalaureate certificate in art.

The Commencement Exhibition concludes the 2007–2008 academic year and coincides with the College’s 182nd annual Commencement held on Monday, May 19 at 1:30 p.m.
